2016

Spring Lunch - Monday March 21st 2016 at Rudloe Arms, Corsham

Marco Pierre White's Rudloe Arms is an amazing Gothic-style 18th Century building looking over the Box Valley. The dining room overlooks the garden and will have undergone a revamp before our visit.
We are so fortunate to have been able to book a very sought-after speaker Shaun McCormack who is a Bodyguard in the Yeomen of the Guard. His talk is entitled "The Queen's Bodyguard of the Yeomen of the Guard", a very fitting subject as we will be celebrating our Queen's 90th birthday soon after.

Afternoon tea - Thursday May 26th at Beechfield House, Beanacre
Queen Elizabeth II's 90th Birthday Celebration Tea

We have chosen a beautiful venue for us to get together to celebrate our much loved monarch's 90th Birthday with a special scrumptious afternoon tea. There is no speaker so we shall have plenty of time to talk to one another and catch up. The dining room overlooks the superb garden where there are plenty of seats available and, if the weather is good, we will be able to spill out into
the sunshine.

Croquet Taster Session -  Tuesday August 16th Afternoon
The Camerton and Peasedown Croquet Club has very kindly offered BCNT members and their friends the opportunity for a taster session of croquet. There will be several experienced croquet members available to introduce everyone to the game and you will also have the opportunity to play a full game alongside them whilst they help and encourage you. This should be a friendly and
fun occasion. Also included in the afternoon is a delectable cream tea.

Autumn Lunch - Thursday October 13th at King William, Tunley
A warm welcome awaits at this friendly family-owned Inn at the small country village of Tunley. We will lunch in the rustic and atmospheric converted barn. Tom Watson, the owner and chef, has put together a mouth-watering menu.

Our speaker after lunch will be Lynne Melly, an inspirational person who will tell us about her very interesting life and the people she met as a nurse on board a Mercy Ship. In short, a lunch and talk not to be missed!

Christmas Lunch - Thursday December 1st at the Abbey Hotel, North Parade, Bath
We hope members will join us for our Christmas Lunch this year. This is a return visit to the Abbey Hotel which was such a success last year. The Christmas Market adds to the festive atmosphere and the central location makes it accessible to everyone. The food created by head chef, Chris Staines, was so delicious, it's not surprising that the Allium Restaurant is proving so popular here in Bath. With interesting events organised throughout the year, it must surely be one of the most popular venues. The Après-Ski Bar will be open during our visit, so you will be able to enjoy a pre-lunch drink soaking up the festive atmosphere or join your friends at the Art Bar for your pre-lunch drink and see if you can spot the new additions to the hanging glasses

This will be at a new venue for us which has received very favourable reviews. Cameley Lodge Hotel and Restaurant is situated in a rural setting with beautiful lakeside views. It is about half an hour's drive from central Bath and is near Temple
Cloud to the south of Bath. We will be having a full three-course lunch with an after-lunch talk by local author David Goode on "Wildlife in Bath". His latest book, "Nature in Towns" has recently sold out!

December 3rd at the Abbey Hotel, North Parade, Bath

The Abbey Hotel is the perfect central location for Christmas Lunch, being close to Bath Abbey and the Christmas Market which will be in full swing. We are so pleased to have been able to secure a booking during the most festive time of year. The Hotel's Allium Restaurant is one of the best in Bath, having won three AA Rosettes this year. Executive chef Chris Staines was holder of a Michelin Star for seven years at London's Mandarin Oriental Hotel and has been developing a following here in Bath. The Abbey Hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment since the new owners, Christa and Ian Taylor, bought it in 2012 and now has some interesting and quirky features (take a peek inside the ladies' loo!) The Après-Ski Bar will be open during our visit, so you will be able to do some people-watching if that is your thing, so long as you don't forget to come in for lunch! Or maybe you would prefer to sit inside the ArtBar or Lounge for your pre-dinner
drink and discover a new way of displaying your wine glasses.

Our after lunch talk entitled "There's Nothing Like a Dame", given by Pantomime Dame Extraordinaire Tim Mayo, is sure to be seasonally interesting and entertaining.
